As a community service, Addicted Quilter participates in the Linus Project. This project provides baby quilts to The Hospital of Kings Daughters. Each and every baby that comes to the hospital leaves with a hand made quilt. The group of ladies goes to quilt shops throughout the area and piece quilt tops together. These tops are put with backing and binding strips in a kit and placed in the ships. Quilters can check out a Linus Project Kit, add the batting, sandwich the layers, quilt in any way you want, bind the quilt, and bring the finished quilt back to the shop. We then take all of the finished quilts to the coordinator for delivery to the hospital. You get a chance to practice hand quilting, machine quilting , or even hand tying. The babies don’t care if you are practicing something new and the parents are truly appreciative of such a gift filled with so much love.
Stop by the shop and pick up a kit and add a bit of love to comfort an infant that has been hospitalized. If you would like to donate completed quilts that you have made, you may do that also. Click here to visit the Linus Project homepage for size requirements.
Thank you for your compassion and helpfulness.
Happy Quilting,
The Addicted Quilter Staff
